Police Staff celebrations

This week we are recognising the many different police staff roles as part of Police Staff Recognition Week.

This is a national celebration week hosted by the NPCC Senior Police Staff Network, and running from Monday 4 – Sunday 10 March. It aims to showcase the important part staff roles play within policing, celebrating their achievements and contribution towards operational policing.

Police staff roles range from business support analysts, call handlers, investigating officers, corporate communication officers, facilities management, and information technology roles, to name a few.

Many of these roles are performed in the background of policing and allow for frontline colleagues to compete their daily duties. What may go unnoticed, is the involvement police staff colleagues have in operational policing. This could be supporting a high-profile case, answering 999 calls in the force control room, or investigating crime rates and trends.

Unite is one of the unions available to all colleagues across the force. They represent every member of police staff including, Police Community Support Officers (PSCOs), force control rooms staff, custody detention officers, property and enquiry desk staff, porters and cleaners and many other roles.

Carl White, Unite Branch Secretary said “The police service is like a well oiled engine. Every single police staff member is a cog in that engine. If any cog is removed, the police service would struggle to run efficiently. Every conviction the police service gets, police staff play a vital role”.

Well done YOU!!
