Police Post Incident Procedure
Unite the Union offer support to it's members should you be involved in an incident that some dies, may die or may suffer serious injuries of life changing injuries as part of police contact. This may include a police pursuit or a death in police custody.
If a member is involved in a PIP, then you ensure that a representative is contacted, details of on call reps are held by YM1 outside of normal office hours or via mobile telephone which is listed on Bluepages during normal office hours.
Unite the Union's advice to members is not to discuss the incident with anyone, make any statements or handover any personal items before speaking to a representative of Unite. The representative will attend your location to ensure your welfare needs are being catered for and will make contact with our legal people before any statements are completed.
